Why isn't my AAA car rental discount showing?

Check active membership, your club CDP, the selected rate and location first. AAA Auto Club Group limits its Hertz base-rate offer to qualifying Pay Later rentals. Its Dollar and Thrifty terms put certain fee waivers at the counter, so a missing online waiver alone does not prove rejection.

What does the official AAA page require?

AAA Auto Club Group says its Hertz offer requires an advance reservation with the AAA CDP. Its stated domestic base-rate discount applies to Pay Later rates at participating locations in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico; taxes, fees and options are excluded. Members must present their membership card at pickup.

For direct Hertz bookings, the page directs members to the Discount/CDP field and their own club code. Qualified additional drivers must also meet the membership and rental requirements. Additional-driver names must appear on the rental agreement. For Dollar and Thrifty, its terms say child-seat and additional-driver fee waivers are processed at the counter.

Our eligibility-to-invoice worksheet

This is our original diagnostic method, not a live booking test. Make a record with four stages: membership, reservation, pickup and invoice. For each missing benefit, write where you expected it to appear and what evidence you actually have. A discount label, a lower total and a fee waiver are different observations. Keeping them separate prevents an accepted code from becoming your only proof.

Start with membership. Record your AAA club, whether your membership is active and whether the renter's name matches the member record. Keep the membership number in your private notes, not in a public screenshot. Mark each requested benefit separately: base-rate reduction, extra-driver treatment or child-seat treatment. Do not assume that satisfying the renter's membership check resolves another driver's eligibility.

Next record the reservation route and the exact field used. Save the displayed discount identifier and rate type with the pickup office, dates and vehicle group. If you cannot identify the club associated with a code, leave that entry unresolved. Our worksheet uses evidence states of confirmed, missing or needs provider confirmation; it never substitutes a code found on a coupon site for proof of membership.

For the pickup stage, list each person who intends to drive and the documents the selected offer requires. Put an empty confirmation box beside each driver rather than using one box for the entire booking. If a benefit depends on the rental agreement, record whether the driver was actually added. Do not send us identity documents; this is a private checklist for your own conversation with the rental office.

For the money stage, copy the base rate, mandatory charges, optional products and final total into separate rows. Leave an undisplayed amount blank and label it unknown. Do not assign it a zero. Add a timing column: visible at reservation, expected at pickup, or confirmed on the final agreement. This lets you distinguish a missing online display from a charge that still needs to be resolved at the counter.

If you compare a member quote with a public quote, hold the itinerary and payment terms fixed. Calculate the displayed cash difference as public total minus member total, using only the two actual quotes. Keep unconfirmed future waivers outside that calculation. Our comparison does not assign a cash value to a headline benefit or claim that the member route must be cheaper.

When something remains unresolved, ask one narrow question: which benefit is missing, for which driver, on which rate and at which location? Attach the relevant offer address and reservation reference through the provider's official channel. Record the answer and its date. A specific eligibility question is more useful than asking whether a code works, because the code alone does not describe the trip.

Short answers

Does an accepted code prove the benefit applies?

No. Check membership, rate and location against the linked terms; code acceptance alone does not establish eligibility.

Should I switch to somebody else's AAA code?

Use the code associated with your own club and membership. Do not substitute another club's code to bypass a missing eligibility check.

Does a missing online waiver always mean rejection?

No. The linked Dollar and Thrifty terms place the specified fee waivers at the counter. Confirm the selected offer with the rental office before relying on it.
